Tacoma Police Honor Community Heroes Amid Ongoing Investigation
On February 28, 2026, around 9:14 p.m., law enforcement in Tacoma responded to a 3200 South Tyler Street address following a shooting report. Upon arrival, officers engaged four young individuals in a car, discovering one had sustained a gunshot injury. Medical assistance was administered promptly until Tacoma Fire Department personnel took over transport to a nearby medical facility.
Initial findings revealed the group had been driving through town launching water balloons at passing cars. A targeted vehicle pursued them, leading to a confrontation where the driver robbed occupants at gunpoint and fired upon a passenger before escaping the area.
Investigative efforts led detectives to identify a 31-year-old individual as the primary suspect.
By March 20, 2026, both the suspect and an adult female were apprehended in Puyallup. The woman was released following interrogation, while the man faced multiple felony charges including attempted murder, robbery, assault, unlawful imprisonment, and illegal firearm possession. Additional felony harassment charges with firearm enhancements were later filed.
