Event Series: City Council Study Session

The governance framework of Tacoma features a Council-Manager system. The City Council consists of a Mayor alongside eight elected Council Members representing five districts and three at-large positions, serving four-year terms. Acting as the city's legislative branch, the Council is pivotal in connecting residents with municipal operations, crafting ordinances, approving biennial budgets, appointing board members, and steering community-focused initiatives.

Informal discussions occur during study sessions, allowing for thorough examination of intricate subjects without formal decisions. These gatherings take place every Tuesday from noon until 2 PM, accessible both in-person at the Tacoma Municipal Building and virtually via Zoom, ensuring broad community engagement.
