Background

Born and raised in Pierce County, Olgy Diaz embraces her Guatemalan heritage while championing equity and inclusion. As a first-generation college graduate, she advocates for marginalized communities through organizations like OneAmerica and Planned Parenthood. Currently serving as Deputy Director for Equity at the Department of Natural Resources, she focuses on environmental justice and civil rights initiatives.

Elected in 2026, she represents Tacoma as the city's first Latina and openly LGBTQ+ council member. Her leadership spans multiple civic roles including Pierce Transit Commissioner and Pierce County Regional Council Member. She prioritizes urban greening projects, pet adoption programs, and community safety measures while advancing affordable housing solutions.

Beyond politics, she mentors youth leaders, supports local businesses, and volunteers with Tacoma Firefighters. Residents can connect through her email portal or call (253) 591-5100 for issues requiring municipal attention.
