City Council Committees
The Tacoma City Council has established five permanent committees to thoroughly examine and formulate policy proposals. Each committee comprises four elected councilors plus an alternate, all appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the council. Chairs and vice-chairs are selected internally by their respective committees.

Standing Council Committees
Community Vitality and Safety CommitteePolicies, initiatives, and programs may encompass public safety, emergency services, education, health services, crime prevention, and various civic engagement efforts.
