OMWBE Certification 201 Workshop: Empowering Minority-Owned Businesses in Tacoma

By Ava White |

As part of its ongoing work to address disparities for historically underutilized businesses owned by minority, women, and socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, the City of Tacoma’s Equity in Contracting (EIC) Program is partnering with the Washington State Office of Minority & Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE) to host an OMWBE Certification 201 workshop on February 12, 2026 from 9 – 11 a.m.

While this workshop will be conducted in a hybrid format, with in-person and virtual options to attend, in-person attendance in the Tacoma Municipal Building (747 Market St., Room 243) is strongly encouraged.

Participants will have an opportunity to start or complete their OMWBE application to become a certified business, and are encouraged to bring the following items:

  • Laptop or electronic device
  • Financial statements and any paperwork required for the certification process

Event details are available at makeittacoma.com/events.

Community members with questions or requests to receive information in an alternate format can contact Linda Cerna at lcerna@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 453-9488.
